Overview

Semaglutide is included in this independent research library to separate what has been demonstrated from what remains theoretical. The evidence, regulatory status and terminology vary substantially by compound, so claims should be read in the context of the cited literature.

Dosing & reconstitution guide

Semaglutide suggested dosing guide

A concise reference to the dosing ranges most often used in approved labeling, clinical research, or published research discussions. Evidence strength is shown so established dosing is not confused with experimental protocol.

FDA-labeled
Suggested starting range0.25 mg
Typical reference range0.25–2.4 mg
FrequencyOnce weekly
TimingSame day each week, with or without food
Typical durationLong-term while clinically appropriate
RouteSubcutaneous injection

Titration and protocol notes

Typical obesity labeling increases every 4 weeks: 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7, then 2.4 mg.

Annotated dosage protocol

Each row explains what the dosage represents. Read it with the evidence badge above: labeled doses, clinical-trial doses, and commonly discussed research amounts do not carry equal clinical weight.

PhaseDoseScheduleWhat this dosage means
Weeks 1–40.25 mgOnce weeklyInitiation dose for acclimation; it is not the labeled adult weight-management maintenance dose.
Weeks 5–160.5 → 1 → 1.7 mgFour weeks at each levelStandard weight-management escalation. Labeling permits delaying an increase when a step is not tolerated.
Week 17 onward1.7 or 2.4 mgOnce weeklyAdult weight-management maintenance range; 2.4 mg is recommended. Diabetes products and cardiovascular indications have brand-specific labeling and maximums.

Semaglutide reconstitution example

This worked example uses a 10 mg vial, 2 mL of diluent, and a 250 mcg reference amount.

Vial strength10 mg
Diluent added2 mL
Concentration5 mg/mL
Example draw0.05 mL / 5 units
How this example is calculated: 10 mg ÷ 2 mL = 5 mg/mL. The 250 mcg reference amount equals 0.25 mg. That produces a 0.05 mL draw, or 5 units on a U-100 syringe.

Syringe units assume a U-100 syringe. Always verify the vial label, syringe type, formulation, and arithmetic independently.

Safety, handling, and storage
  • Suggested ranges are educational summaries, not individualized prescriptions.
  • FDA-labeled regimens apply only to the approved product, indication, and delivery system.
  • For experimental compounds, human safety, purity, and effective dosing may be unknown.
  • Follow product-specific sterility, storage, and beyond-use instructions; do not use damaged or contaminated material.
